Police in western Pennsylvania say a man who robbed a Pittsburgh-area bank hired a cab, which was pulled over by authorities who followed the vehicle using a tracking device placed in the stolen money.

Allegheny County police say 28-year-old Christian Moore robbed the First National Bank in Homestead, Pennsylvania about 1:40 p.m. one Tuesday.

Police say Moore ran to a cab stand soon after handing a teller a note demanding money. County police say Homestead officers followed the vehicle and stopped it in Pittsburgh’s Hazelwood neighborhood, arresting Moore and finding the money and a gun.

The cab driver told police she didn’t know Moore had committed a crime before hiring her for a ride.

The driver says Moore told police she “had nothing to do with it, so that was cool of him.”

Moore was jailed without an attorney the next day.

Woman Took Taxi Home After Robbing Bank

A Mississippi woman accused of robbing a bank and fleeing in a taxi has been arrested.

News outlets report 35-year-old Dominique R. Spears was arrested at her apartment after a Yellow Cab driver told police that he picked her up at a Wells Fargo Bank one Tuesday.

Ocean Springs police Capt. William Jackson says the robbery was reported at 10:51 a.m. Responding officers received information that the suspect had left the scene in a taxicab.

A traffic officer followed the taxi and witnessed the driver drop off Spears at the Reserve Apartments about three miles from the bank.

Police arrested Spears on a robbery charge. It’s unclear if she has a lawyer.

Potential robbers be warned: Uber doesn’t work as a getaway vehicle, either.
